MHADA to Digitize 15 Crore Documents for Public Access
Sanjeev Jaiswal’s Vision for 6.5 Lakh Homes and Public Accessibility
This initiative aims to make key documents accessible to the public, streamlining administrative processes and improving the efficiency of MHADA’s operations.
Digitization for Public Access ( 15 CR)
With the digitization of these 15 crore documents, MHADA is significantly reducing the dependency on Right to Information (RTI) requests, making access to important information much easier and faster for the public. According to Jaiswal,
Making these 15 crore documents available to citizens is a major step towards ensuring information is accessible and hassle-free.
The documents will be uploaded and available for viewing on the official MHADA website within a week. However, sensitive and classified documents will be kept protected for privacy and security.
Simplifying Public Interactions
This move is part of MHADA’s broader commitment to increasing transparency and simplifying interactions with the public. As part of this initiative, MHADA is promoting digital grievance redressal platforms that allow citizens to address their concerns online, reducing the need for physical visits.
To support those without easy access to digital platforms, especially in rural areas, MHADA has appointed dedicated staff to assist them. Additionally, Janata Darbars (public grievance meetings) are being organized to allow citizens to raise concerns directly with officials, ensuring timely responses and resolutions.
100-Day Action Plan for Improving Services
As part of the government’s focus on Ease of Living, MHADA has launched a 100-day action plan aimed at improving citizen services. This plan, based on directives from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, includes enhancing the MHADA website and making services more accessible and efficient for the public. The goal is to provide a seamless and quicker process for citizens accessing housing-related services.
Delivering 6.5 Lakh Homes in MMR
One of the key initiatives under Jaiswal’s leadership is the ambitious goal of delivering 6.5 lakh homes across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). This addresses the growing demand for housing, especially in urban areas where affordability remains a major concern.
Affordable Housing for All
In line with the government’s vision for inclusive development, a significant portion of these homes will cater to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Middle Income Groups (MIG). MHADA is already working on several redevelopment projects in areas such as Motilal Nagar, GTB Nagar, Sindhi Society, and PMGP Jogeshwari, which will soon accelerate with the use of 2.5 FSI (Floor Space Index) provisions. These efforts will help provide affordable housing for residents in need.
Girni Kamgar Housing Scheme for Mill Workers
Another important initiative is the Girni Kamgar housing scheme aimed at providing homes to mill workers in Mumbai. MHADA has already finalized the eligibility of over one lakh registered mill workers, ensuring they will benefit from the upcoming housing projects.
Cluster Redevelopment Projects
MHADA is also focusing on seven cluster redevelopment projects at Prabhadevi in South Mumbai. These projects aim to modernize existing structures and improve infrastructure in these historic areas, ensuring that residents have access to better living conditions and amenities.
Key Distribution Ceremony on May 15
In a major development, MHADA will host a key distribution ceremony on May 15 in areas like Naigaon, Worli, and Ghodapdeo. This event will mark a significant milestone in MHADA’s efforts to provide affordable homes to citizens, as beneficiaries will receive the keys to their new homes.
Conclusion
Under the leadership of IAS Officer Sanjeev Jaiswal, MHADA is making significant progress in ensuring greater accessibility to housing and government services. The ongoing digitization of documents and the focus on large-scale affordable housing projects are transforming the way MHADA interacts with the public. Through these efforts, MHADA is working to create a more transparent and efficient system while addressing the housing crisis in Mumbai. Jaiswal’s vision for affordable housing and public accessibility is helping pave the way for a brighter future for all citizens in the region.
