MHADA Pune Lottery 2025: 6,168 Flats Up for Grabs, Applications Now Open
The shortage of affordable housing in Indian cities remains a pressing challenge, particularly in high-growth regions like Pune. With its booming industries, universities, and steady inflow of migrants, Pune has seen housing demand far outstrip supply. To address this, the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has announced its Pune Lottery 2025, opening up 6168 homes across the region.
This year’s program introduces a hybrid system: 4186 homes will be distributed through a lottery under the Go Live Program, while 1982 houses are available through a First Come First Serve (FCFS) model. This approach reflects a balance of fairness and efficiency, while ensuring that no homes remain unallocated. IAS Sanjeev Jaiswal, Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of MHADA, has described the initiative as a decisive step toward bridging the urban housing gap.
Allocation of 6168 Homes Across Key Locations
The homes are spread across Pune and its neighbouring districts, making the scheme relevant not only for the city but also for semi-urban residents. Locations include Chakan-Mhalunge-Ingle, Shivajinagar in Solapur, Sangli, Sanjay Nagar, Palus, Kolhapur’s Kagal, Karnala Road, Pandharpur, Abhaynagar, and Jule Solapur. Such distribution ensures that the 6168 homes serve a wide range of communities, extending benefits to families across multiple income levels and regions.
Lottery Under the Go Live Program
Of the total stock, 4186 homes will be allotted through the Go Live Program. This program follows the familiar lottery mechanism but with added digital transparency. Applications are submitted online, the draw is scheduled for November 21, 2025, and results will be published on the same day. The clear calendar of events—from the opening of applications on September 11 to the publication of final applicant lists on November 17—adds predictability and trust to the process.
First Come First Serve Model
Alongside the lottery, 1982 homes have been earmarked for distribution through the FCFS system. Here, the order of application directly determines the allocation. Applicants who register early and complete their payments promptly secure a unit. This model, while fast-paced, is designed for families who wish to avoid the uncertainty of a lottery draw and are ready to act immediately.
Inclusion Across Income Groups
The 6168 homes are not targeted at a single class but span the entire spectrum of demand. Provisions have been made for the Economically Weaker Section, Low-Income Group, Middle-Income Group, and Higher-Income Group. This inclusive design ensures that both the 4186 lottery homes under the Go Live Program and the 1982 FCFS homes are accessible to a broad cross-section of society.
Digital Infrastructure and Transparency
A key innovation in this scheme is the digital infrastructure. Through bookmyhome.mhada.gov.in and lottery.mhada.gov.in, all processes—from application to payment—are handled online. This minimizes manual intervention, prevents crowding, and reassures applicants of a fair and tamper-proof system. For a region where housing schemes have often faced criticism over delays and opacity, the digital-first approach signals a significant leap forward.
A Step Toward Equitable Housing
The MHADA Lottery 2025 is more than a distribution of 6168 homes. It is a structured intervention that combines two models—4186 homes through a lottery under the Go Live Program and 1982 through FCFS—creating a balanced framework that addresses both inclusivity and speed.
As Pune continues to expand, the housing challenge will only intensify. By making timely policy adjustments and embracing digital transparency, MHADA under the leadership of Sanjeev Jaiswal has reinforced its role as a responsive public institution. For thousands of families, this initiative offers not just a house, but a chance at stability, security, and a foothold in one of India’s most dynamic cities.
