Campaign To Connect Tribal Communities With Government Schemes

Maharashtra’s Tribal Development Department is conducting the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan from September 17 to October 17, 2026, with a strong focus on improving access to government welfare schemes and essential services for tribal communities.

Tribal Development Minister Ashok Uike has directed department officials to ensure that the month-long campaign delivers practical benefits to eligible people. He stressed that the initiative should go beyond creating awareness and should help beneficiaries actually access the schemes and services available to them.

Uike reviewed the campaign through a meeting attended by Tribal Development Commissioner Leena Bansod, additional commissioners from Nagpur, Amravati, Nashik and Thane, project officers, and other senior officials. Officials shared details of activities planned across different areas.

Special Focus On Tribal Students And Education

Education is an important part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. Various activities, including drawing competitions, essay writing, elocution, debates and rangoli competitions, are being organized in tribal institutions, government schools and aided Ashram schools.

Students preparing for competitive examinations will also receive guidance through special camps. These sessions will provide information about government schemes, educational opportunities and other resources available to them.

The campaign also includes health check-ups for students living in Ashram schools and hostels. Special attention is being given to hemoglobin testing to help identify health concerns at an early stage.

Women’s Empowerment Gets Greater Attention

The campaign is also supporting women in tribal communities through initiatives focused on economic participation and self-help groups.

Officials are working to increase the registration of women farmers and strengthen women’s self-help groups. These efforts are aimed at helping more women access government support and participate in livelihood opportunities.

Welfare Scheme Awareness To Reach Villages

The Tribal Development Department is taking its awareness efforts directly to villages through several community-based activities. These include chariot campaigns, street plays, morning rallies, Seva Yatras and beneficiary meetings.

Special awareness programs are being conducted on forest rights, PESA, women’s empowerment and tribal welfare schemes. Eligible residents are also being provided guidance and assistance so they can understand the application process and access available benefits.

The department is also documenting success stories of beneficiaries whose lives have improved through government schemes. Videos highlighting these experiences are being prepared to spread awareness among other communities.

Health, Cleanliness And Public Participation

The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan includes a wide range of activities beyond welfare scheme awareness. Health check-ups, blood donation drives, tree plantation programs and cleanliness campaigns are among the initiatives planned during the campaign.

Yoga and meditation sessions, de-addiction awareness programs, career guidance, road safety activities and cyber safety awareness are also part of the initiative.

Special Cleanliness Drive Planned For Schools And Hostels

Minister Ashok Uike has directed officials to conduct a special cleanliness campaign in tribal schools and hostels from October 2 to October 17 to mark Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti.

The department is preparing the required circulars and monitoring arrangements to ensure that the cleanliness activities are carried out effectively across participating institutions.

Focus On Taking Benefits To The Last Person

Uike emphasized that the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan should not be limited to simply providing information about government programs. The main focus should be on helping eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits and services intended for them.

Officials have been asked to plan activities based on local needs and available resources while maintaining coordination across different levels of the department. The approach is intended to make the campaign more people-focused and improve the delivery of government support to tribal communities across Maharashtra.
