The key distribution ceremony was held at the Yashwantrao Chavan Centre at noon. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis attended the event along with Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar.
The completion of three buildings under the first phase of redevelopment has made it possible to hand over these homes to eligible residents. The rehabilitation flats have been provided with free ownership rights, giving families a permanent housing opportunity.

The handover marks an important step in the transformation of Mumbai's historic BDD Chawl colonies. The new 500 sq. ft. apartments provide significantly more living space than the earlier 160 sq. ft. homes.
For the 557 beneficiary families, receiving their home keys is more than just a housing milestone. It represents the fulfillment of a long-awaited dream and the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.
With modern housing facilities and ownership rights, the redevelopment project reflects the government's continued efforts to improve living conditions for Mumbai residents. This Diwali has become especially memorable for these families as they celebrate the festival in their new homes.
