Pune Administration Asked to Act Quickly Amid Heavy Rain

As heavy rains continue to affect several parts of Pune district, Sunetra Pawar has directed local authorities to provide immediate relief to affected residents and remain on high alert.

During a review meeting with senior government and police officials, Pawar stressed that saving lives must be the top priority. She instructed all departments to work together and respond quickly to any emergency caused by flooding, waterlogging, landslides, or rising river levels.

NDRF, SDRF and Police Told to Work Together

The Deputy Chief Minister ordered seamless coordination between the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), police, fire brigade, and revenue officials.

Rescue teams have been asked to:

• Evacuate people from vulnerable areas without delay.
• Shift affected families to safe shelters.
• Provide food, clean drinking water, and medical aid.
• Continue rescue operations in flood-prone locations.

Power, Water and Communication Services to Be Restored Fast

Authorities have also been directed to restore electricity, water supply, healthcare services, and communication networks as quickly as possible in areas impacted by the rainfall.

District control rooms will remain operational 24 hours a day, and officials must regularly report the latest situation to the Maharashtra government.

Flood Warnings and Dam Discharge Alerts

With water levels rising in several dams and large volumes of water being released, the administration has intensified public warnings.

Citizens will receive alerts through:

• SMS messages
• Social media updates
• Local administration announcements
• Police and disaster management networks

Officials have also been instructed to closely monitor flood-prone villages and riverbank settlements.

Several Bridges Closed Due to Rising Water

According to district authorities, multiple bridges across rivers in Pune have been temporarily closed because of rising water levels and safety concerns.

Residents have been advised to:

• Stay away from riverbanks and flooded areas.
• Avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain.
• Follow only official advisories.

Special Safety Measures for Ashadhi Wari Pilgrims

The Deputy Chief Minister also directed officials to make special arrangements for devotees participating in the Ashadhi Wari.

Additional focus has been placed on the safety of women, children, and senior citizens, along with traffic management near pilgrimage routes, IT parks, and industrial zones.
