Maharashtra Plans Annual Police Recruitment Calendar to Make Hiring Transparent and Time-Bound
Annual Police Recruitment Calendar to Give Candidates Clear Timelines
The Maharashtra government is planning to introduce an annual police recruitment calendar to make the hiring process more transparent, organized and time-bound. The move is expected to help candidates understand recruitment schedules in advance and prepare more effectively for different stages of the selection process.
Maharashtra Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam has directed officials to take the necessary steps to prepare the annual recruitment schedule. The proposed system is aimed at making police recruitment more convenient for applicants while improving administrative efficiency.
Yogesh Kadam Reviews 2025-26 Police Recruitment Process
Kadam reviewed the ongoing 2025-26 police recruitment process during a meeting held at Mantralaya. The meeting focused on improving the overall recruitment system, including online applications, examinations, physical tests, document verification and appointment procedures.
MLA Bachchu Kadu joined the meeting through video conference. Director General of Police (Training) Krishna Prakash, along with senior officials from the Home Department and Police Department, also participated in the review.
Kadam emphasized the need for better planning so that candidates receive timely information about recruitment dates and get enough time to prepare for each stage.
Government Plans Better Coordination of Exams and Physical Tests
Officials were asked to work on a structured recruitment schedule covering the initial stages of the selection process. The schedule will be finalized after the required government-level decisions and approvals.
The meeting also discussed the need to coordinate police recruitment examinations and physical tests with major competitive examinations and recruitment drives conducted by Central Government security forces. Better coordination could help candidates manage multiple recruitment opportunities more effectively.
Focus on Faster Verification, Medical Tests and Appointments
The government also reviewed ways to streamline document verification, medical examinations and appointment procedures. Officials discussed measures to ensure that the recruitment process moves forward within the prescribed timelines.
Plans to fill vacancies across different police units were also examined. This includes vacancies created due to retirements, with officials asked to ensure that such positions are filled within the required timeframe.
Police Training Capacity and Women’s Recruitment Reviewed
The capacity of Maharashtra's 10 police training centers was another key topic discussed during the meeting. Officials reviewed the infrastructure and facilities needed to accommodate newly selected candidates and provide them with proper training.
The response to the recruitment of women in the police force was also reviewed as part of the broader recruitment planning exercise.
Recruitment for SRPF, Prisons and Other Categories Included
The meeting also considered coordination between recruitment processes for the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), Prisons Department and Home Guards quota. Procedures related to compassionate appointments were also discussed.
These measures are intended to bring greater coordination across different recruitment categories and help reduce delays in the appointment process.
Technology and Online Recruitment System to Get More Attention
Kadam directed officials to examine available options for strengthening the technology used in police recruitment. Improvements to the online application system, selection procedures, transparency and merit-based recruitment were among the areas highlighted.
The proposed annual recruitment calendar is expected to provide candidates with greater clarity while helping the department plan vacancies, examinations, training and appointments in a more systematic manner.
