The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has received an impressive response to its 2026 housing lottery in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. More than 2.38 lakh applications have been submitted for 4,462 affordable homes across different income groups, reflecting strong demand for affordable housing in the region.

Of the total applications received, around 1.65 lakh applicants have paid their required security deposits. With only three days remaining before the application deadline, the total number of applications is expected to cross 2.5 lakh.

Pune MHADA Lottery 2026 Sees Record Demand for 4,462 Homes

The strong response highlights the growing interest among homebuyers in securing affordable housing through MHADA. The lottery offers 4,462 residential units across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad for applicants from different income categories.

According to MHADA officials, the documents submitted with more than 10,000 applications are currently under review. The authority expects the application count to increase further before the final deadline.

Under the lottery guidelines, applicants must pay a security deposit of ₹20,000 for each flat application. The prescribed application fee and applicable GST must also be paid separately to complete the registration process.

October 30 is the Final Date to Apply for Pune MHADA Lottery

MHADA has kept the online application process open until October 30, 2026. Eligible applicants can complete their registration, upload the required documents, and make the necessary payments before the deadline.

After the application window closes, MHADA will publish the final list of eligible applicants and begin preparations for the computerized lottery draw.

The authority is also reviewing submitted documents to ensure that applicants meet the eligibility conditions and have provided the required information.

Why Did MHADA Extend the Pune Lottery Application Deadline?

MHADA initially launched the online registration process for 4,462 homes on August 26, 2026, with September 30 set as the original deadline.

However, several applicants faced difficulties obtaining and uploading important documents, including domicile certificates and Income Tax Return (ITR) records. Online verification of these documents also caused delays.

Additionally, the computer system upgrade undertaken by MahaIT resulted in technical issues that affected certificate uploads and verification.

To give applicants more time and ensure that interested homebuyers were not left out because of technical difficulties, MHADA first extended the deadline to October 15. The authority later announced another extension, setting October 30, 2026, as the final date for applications.

MHADA Focuses on a Smooth and Transparent Housing Lottery Process

Under the leadership of IAS Sanjeev Jaiswal, Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of MHADA, the authority continues to focus on improving housing services, digital processes, and transparency in its housing lottery operations.

The MHADA Pune housing lottery has attracted significant attention from homebuyers looking for affordable residential options in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. The high application count also reflects the importance of MHADA's housing schemes in providing homeownership opportunities to eligible families.

With the final application deadline approaching, applicants are advised to complete all formalities on time and check their application status and document verification details through the official MHADA lottery portal.
