Mumbai’s iconic Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Mandir in Prabhadevi is witnessing a festive and devotional atmosphere today as it hosts its grand Rath Shobhayatra on the occasion of Maghi Ganesh Jayanti 2026. The annual chariot procession marks the beginning of the temple’s five-day-long Maghi Ganesh Jayanti celebrations and is expected to attract thousands of devotees from across Mumbai and nearby areas.

Maghi Ganesh Jayanti is considered one of the most auspicious days dedicated to Lord Ganesha, and the Siddhivinayak Temple plays a central role in the city’s celebrations.

Rath Shobhayatra Begins at 3 PM

According to temple authorities, the Rath Shobhayatra commenced at 3 pm from the Siddhivinayak Temple premises in Prabhadevi. A beautifully decorated ceremonial chariot carrying a replica idol of Lord Ganesha is being taken through prominent areas of Dadar and Prabhadevi, allowing devotees to offer prayers and seek blessings along the route.

The procession provides an opportunity for devotees who may not be able to enter the temple due to heavy crowds to participate in the celebrations and experience the spiritual fervour.

After covering the designated route, the chariot will return to the Siddhivinayak Temple.

The procession is not just a religious event but also a vibrant cultural celebration. The Rath Shobhayatra features traditional Maharashtrian folk performances, including Lezhim, Tarpa, Bangar, Gawli, and Adivasi dances.

Adding to the energy and enthusiasm, 14 dhol-tasha troupes are performing along the route, filling the streets with rhythmic beats and creating a festive spectacle that draws large crowds of devotees and onlookers alike.

Security and Traffic Arrangements in Place

Anticipating a massive turnout, Mumbai Police and civic authorities have made extensive arrangements to ensure safety and smooth conduct of the event.
