MahaRERA Clears 1,060 Housing Projects Across Maharashtra, MMR Leads With 607 Approvals
In a major boost to the real estate sector, the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has approved a total of 1,060 housing projects across Maharashtra, reinforcing confidence in the state’s property market.
The approvals, announced around the auspicious occasion of Padwa, include a mix of new project registrations, timeline extensions, and corrections to existing developments—reflecting both growth and regulatory efficiency.
Breakdown of Approvals
Out of the total 1,060 projects:
486 new housing projects received registration numbers
426 projects were granted timeline extensions
148 projects received approval for corrections
MahaRERA ensured that all approvals were granted only after strict scrutiny of legal, technical, and financial compliance, maintaining transparency and accountability in the sector.
MMR Emerges As Growth Leader
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) accounted for the highest number of approvals, with 607 projects, followed by:
- Pune: 321 projects
- Khandesh: 63 projects
- Vidarbha: 50 projects
- Marathwada: 14 projects
At the district level, Pune led with 286 projects, while Mumbai Suburban (196), Thane (185), and Raigad (110) also recorded significant activity.
Fast-Tracked Processing Ahead of Padwa
Demonstrating operational efficiency, MahaRERA processed 211 applications in a single day ahead of Padwa. This included:
- 124 new registrations
- 53 extensions
- 34 corrections
Officials worked extended hours, including holidays, to ensure timely approvals during the festive period, traditionally considered favorable for property investments.

MahaRERA’s role in regulating the housing sector continues to be crucial. By ensuring that only compliant projects receive approvals, the authority helps:
