Tata Power Expands EV Charging Network to 1,800+ Points Across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai

Maharashtra EV Charging Network Crosses 2,400 Points

Tata Power is expanding electric vehicle charging infrastructure across Maharashtra, with more than 1,800 EV charging points now available across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. The company’s overall charging network in the state has crossed 2,400 points, supporting the growing number of electric vehicles on city roads and major travel routes.

The expansion is aimed at making EV charging easier for private vehicle owners, taxi operators, ride-hailing companies and commercial fleets. As electric mobility continues to grow in Mumbai, the availability of reliable public charging stations is becoming increasingly important.

600-kW Mega Charger Opens Near Mumbai Airport

One of the major additions to Mumbai’s charging network is a 600-kW Mega Charger located at The Leela near Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

The charging facility has 16 charging guns and can serve up to 16 electric vehicles at the same time. It includes six 60-kW fast chargers and two 120-kW chargers, offering faster charging for users who need to get back on the road quickly.

The airport location is especially useful for private EV owners, airport taxis, ride-hailing fleets and other vehicles that operate frequently in the area.

Tata Power Mega Chargers See Strong Usage

Tata Power and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd said their 10 co-branded Tata Power x TATA.ev Mega Charger hubs across India have recorded more than 70,000 charging sessions and over 85,000 charging hours.

According to the companies, these charging hubs have supported more than 75 lakh electric kilometers and helped avoid an estimated 6,690 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

The 10 Mega Charger hubs are spread across Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Together, they include 25 fast chargers and 56 charging guns, providing a combined charging capacity of 2.7 MW.

More Fast Chargers on Key Travel Routes

Maharashtra’s network also includes a Mega Charger at Sai International in Sangli along the Pune-Bengaluru corridor. Other charging hubs have been established along important routes, including the Yamuna Expressway and the Hyderabad-Vijayawada corridor.

These locations are designed to support EV users traveling between cities, where access to fast and dependable charging can help reduce concerns about driving range.

Tata Power Plans Further EV Charging Expansion

Tata Power’s wider charging ecosystem currently includes more than 6,700 public and captive charging points, over 2.5 lakh home chargers and more than 1,200 bus charging points across more than 690 cities and towns.

The company has set a target of reaching 10,000 public charging points and 7.5 lakh home chargers by 2030.

For Mumbai and Maharashtra, the continued expansion of fast-charging infrastructure could play an important role in supporting higher EV adoption. More charging points along busy roads, airport corridors and intercity highways can make electric vehicles more convenient for daily commuters, taxi drivers and commercial fleet operators.
