Maharashtra Launches India Jewellery Park in Navi Mumbai, Targets ₹25,000 Crore Investment and 1 Lakh Jobs
Maharashtra has launched the India Jewellery Park in Mahape, Navi Mumbai, with plans to attract ₹25,000 crore in investment and create around one lakh direct and indirect jobs. The 22-acre project aims to strengthen the state's jewellery manufacturing industry, expand exports, encourage advanced technology, and establish Maharashtra as a leading global destination for gems and jewellery.
India Jewellery Park in Mahape to Boost Maharashtra's Industrial Growth
The India Jewellery Park was launched at the TTC Industrial Area in Mahape, Navi Mumbai, in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Forest Minister Ganesh Naik, and representatives of the gems and jewellery industry.
The project is expected to bring new opportunities for manufacturers, traders, exporters, skilled workers, and businesses connected to the jewellery sector. With dedicated industrial infrastructure and modern facilities, the park aims to support the industry's expansion and improve its competitiveness in international markets.
Maharashtra Aims to Become a Global Jewellery Manufacturing and Export Hub
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said Maharashtra and Mumbai have the skilled workforce, entrepreneurial experience, business networks, and industrial ecosystem needed to become major global centers for jewellery manufacturing and exports.
He emphasized the importance of modern technology, innovation, and stronger coordination between the government and industry. The proposed park is expected to provide a platform for businesses to improve production processes, adopt advanced manufacturing methods, and explore new export opportunities.
Fadnavis also highlighted the changing global trade environment, including developments in major markets such as the United States and China. He encouraged industry representatives to understand evolving market conditions, invest in technology, improve manufacturing capabilities, and identify new markets for Indian jewellery.
State Government Promises Support for Infrastructure and Faster Approvals
The Chief Minister assured industry representatives that the Maharashtra government would provide the necessary support to help the project move forward without unnecessary delays.
He noted that successful industrial development depends on more than land availability. Reliable electricity and water supply, good road connectivity, access to capital, modern infrastructure, and timely government approvals are also essential for businesses to grow.
Officials concerned have been directed to address implementation-related challenges and help ensure that the project progresses smoothly. This support is expected to encourage greater industry participation and create a favorable environment for long-term investment.
India Jewellery Park Expected to Generate One Lakh Jobs
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said the project is expected to attract approximately ₹25,000 crore in investment and create around one lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities.
The development could benefit workers and businesses across the jewellery industry's value chain, including manufacturing, design, processing, trading, logistics, and exports. It is also expected to encourage supporting businesses and create additional opportunities for skilled professionals and entrepreneurs.
By bringing industry-related activities together within a dedicated industrial development, the park aims to strengthen business connections, support production growth, and improve the sector's ability to serve domestic and international markets.
Project Supports Maharashtra's $1 Trillion Economy Goal
Fadnavis said projects such as the India Jewellery Park would contribute to India's ambition of becoming a developed nation by 2047 and Maharashtra's goal of building a $1 trillion economy.
The initiative reflects the state's broader focus on attracting investment, expanding manufacturing, creating employment, and strengthening its position in international trade. The gems and jewellery industry has the potential to contribute to these objectives through increased production, innovation, and export growth.
With its location in Navi Mumbai and access to Maharashtra's established business ecosystem, the India Jewellery Park is expected to provide a fresh boost to the state's industrial development. Its planned investment and employment opportunities could also help strengthen Maharashtra's role in India's growing manufacturing and export economy.
