Mumbai Modak Mahotsav 2026: BMC Brings Traditional Modaks to Doorsteps Across City

Traditional Ukadiche and Fried Modaks Available for Home Delivery

Mumbai is getting ready for Ganeshotsav 2026 with a special festive initiative that will bring one of the festival’s most loved sweets directly to residents’ homes. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has launched Modak Mahotsav 2026, offering traditional ukadiche and fried modaks prepared by women’s self-help groups.

Starting September 14, Mumbaikars can register online to order the festive treats through ShgeShop. The home delivery service will be available across Mumbai during the Ganeshotsav period, giving residents an easy way to enjoy freshly prepared modaks at home.

Online Registration Opens for Modak Delivery

Citizens who want to order modaks through the initiative must complete their online registration at least one day before the required delivery date. Orders will be delivered only within Mumbai.

The initiative has been planned to meet the strong demand for modaks during Ganeshotsav while making traditional festive food more accessible to residents. Both steamed ukadiche modaks and fried varieties will be available through the program.

BMC Supports Women Self-Help Groups

Modak Mahotsav 2026 also focuses on creating business opportunities for women involved in self-help groups supported by the civic body. By providing a wider customer base, the initiative can help these women entrepreneurs promote their products and strengthen their small businesses.

The program gives Mumbaikars an opportunity to enjoy traditional modaks while supporting local women-led enterprises during one of the city's biggest celebrations.

Modak Mahotsav Adds to Ganeshotsav Celebrations

BMC officials said the initiative is designed to add to the festive spirit while creating a meaningful connection between citizens and women entrepreneurs. Director (Planning) Dr. Prachi Jambhekar said the festival will bring added joy to Ganeshotsav and encourage Mumbaikars to support women who are building their own businesses.

With home delivery available from September 14, Modak Mahotsav 2026 offers Mumbai residents a convenient way to bring traditional festive flavors to their homes while supporting local self-help groups.
