Maharashtra To Reform Government Recruitment Exams With High-Level Panel, CM Fadnavis Announces

State government to review recruitment exam procedures, strengthen paper leak laws and create 25,000 secure classrooms across Maharashtra

Maharashtra is set to introduce major reforms to its government recruitment examination system, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announcing a high-level committee to review existing procedures and recommend measures to make exams more secure, transparent and reliable.

The committee will be led by Additional Chief Secretary of the General Administration Department V. Radha. It will visit different revenue divisions across the state and meet students, education experts, representatives of educational institutions and other stakeholders before preparing its recommendations.

High-Level Committee To Review Recruitment Exam System

The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at his official residence, Varsha. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also attended the meeting and shared suggestions on improving the government recruitment examination process.

The committee has been asked to study the current system and identify areas where security, coordination and transparency can be improved. Its consultations with students and other stakeholders are expected to help the government understand concerns related to recruitment exams.

Key Officials Included In Reform Panel

The committee will bring together senior officials from several departments to examine the issue from different perspectives.

Its members will include Director General of Police Sadanand Date, Information Technology Department Secretary Virendra Singh, Animal Husbandry Department Secretary Dr. N. Ramaswamy and Nashik Divisional Commissioner Pravin Gedam.

The involvement of senior police, technology, administration and education-related officials is expected to help the panel develop a broader approach to examination security.

Maharashtra To Enforce Stricter Anti-Paper Leak Law

Fadnavis also directed officials to complete the process of implementing the recently enacted central law dealing with paper leaks and malpractice in examinations within the next two weeks.

The Chief Minister pointed out that Maharashtra already has legislation covering examination-related misconduct. However, the central law includes stricter provisions to deal with paper leaks and other unfair practices.

The move is aimed at strengthening the legal framework and improving confidence among students preparing for government recruitment examinations.

25,000 Secure Classrooms Planned Across State

As part of the security measures, Fadnavis directed officials to establish at least 25,000 secure classrooms across Maharashtra for conducting examinations.

The proposed facilities are expected to provide safer and more controlled environments for candidates appearing for recruitment tests. Better infrastructure could also help authorities manage examinations more efficiently and reduce the risk of malpractice.

Greater Coordination Between District Authorities

The meeting also focused on improving coordination between different government agencies involved in conducting recruitment examinations.

District collectors, police commissioners, superintendents of police and senior education department officials will have a stronger coordination role in the examination process.

Officials also reviewed examination practices followed in other countries and compared them with Maharashtra's existing procedures. The aim is to identify practical measures that can improve security, prevent malpractice and make recruitment examinations more dependable.

Focus On A Fairer Recruitment Process

The proposed reforms are expected to bring greater accountability and security to government recruitment examinations in Maharashtra. By combining stronger laws, improved infrastructure, better coordination and wider consultation with students and other stakeholders, the state government plans to build a more transparent examination system.

The high-level committee's recommendations will play an important role in shaping the next phase of recruitment exam reforms across the state.
