MHADA Cuts Service Charges for Khoni and Shirdhon Homes, Giving PMAY Beneficiaries Monthly Relief

Konkan Board Reduces Monthly Charges for Essential Services

The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) Konkan Board has reduced the monthly service charges for beneficiaries of homes built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Khoni and Shirdhon. The decision is expected to provide financial relief to families living in these housing projects.

The revised charges apply to services such as electricity, water and other common facilities provided to residents. The reduction ranges from Rs 279 to Rs 622 per month, depending on the housing project.

Khoni Homeowners to Pay Rs 1,800 Per Month

According to the latest decision, MHADA has reduced the monthly service charge for homes in Khoni from Rs 2,422 to Rs 1,800.

This means beneficiaries will save Rs 622 every month compared with the earlier charge. The reduction is expected to make regular housing expenses more manageable for families living in the Khoni PMAY housing project.

Shirdhon Service Charge Reduced to Rs 1,700

Residents of the Shirdhon housing project will also benefit from the revised charges. The monthly service fee has been reduced from Rs 1,979 to Rs 1,700.

Beneficiaries will therefore receive a monthly reduction of Rs 279. The revised amount covers the charges associated with essential services and facilities provided through the housing project.

Residents Had Requested a Reduction in Charges

The decision follows requests from beneficiaries who had raised concerns about the earlier service charges. Residents of the Khoni and Shirdhon PMAY projects had asked the Konkan Board to review the monthly fees and provide relief.

The issue was also raised during an inspection of the project sites by MHADA Vice Chairman Sanjeev Jaiswal on May 21, 2026. During the visit, residents discussed their concerns about the service charges and requested a reduction.

Following the representations from beneficiaries, the charges were reviewed and reduced for both housing projects.

Konkan Board Issues Revised Service Charge Letter

The Konkan Board has now formally communicated the revised charges through an official letter. Konkan Board Chief Officer Dr. Vishal Rathod confirmed the updated monthly service fees for the two locations.

With the revised rates, Khoni beneficiaries will pay Rs 1,800 per month, while Shirdhon beneficiaries will pay Rs 1,700 per month.

The reduction is expected to offer continuing monthly savings to residents while helping them manage household expenses more comfortably.

Decision Brings Relief to PMAY Beneficiaries

The reduction in MHADA service charges provides direct financial relief to families living in the Khoni and Shirdhon PMAY housing projects. By lowering the monthly cost of essential services, the Konkan Board has responded to the concerns raised by beneficiaries.

The revised charges will apply to the respective housing projects as communicated by the Konkan Board.
