Dream Homes Await as Over 1.7 Lakh Apply for MHADA Flats in Thane and Vasai

The Konkan Board of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has launched a housing lottery for 5,285 flats across Thane city, Thane district, and Vasai (Palghar). These homes, located in areas such as Oros and Kulgaon-Badlapur, have attracted tremendous interest from residents, with over 1,74,168 applications submitted by the final day of registration. Of these, 1,39,123 applicants completed the payment of the earnest money deposit, confirming their participation in the lottery.

The scheme reflects MHADA’s ongoing efforts to address housing demand in rapidly urbanizing regions while maintaining transparency and efficiency in allocation. With a structured lottery process and clear deadlines, prospective homeowners now have a predictable pathway to secure a home in Thane and Vasai.
 

Distribution Across Housing Categories

The flats are being offered under different schemes to cater to diverse income groups and housing needs. Of the 5,285 flats:

•    565 are under the 20% Comprehensive Housing Scheme.
•    3,002 fall within the 15% Integrated Township Housing Scheme.
•    1,677 are Scattered Flats under the Konkan Board Schemes.
•    41 flats are reserved under the 50% Affordable Housing Quota.

This distribution ensures equitable access to housing for residents across various income brackets, balancing large township projects with scattered developments and affordable housing initiatives.

Timeline and Application Process

MHADA extended the online registration and application submission deadline until September 12, allowing more residents to participate. The provisional list of accepted applications is scheduled for release on September 22, providing an opportunity for applicants to review their status. Claims and objections can be filed from September 24, and the final list of eligible applicants will be published on October 7.

The lottery draw for applicants who have paid the earnest money deposit will be conducted in Thane on October 9, marking a crucial step for thousands of families aspiring to own a home.
