Thane to Build ₹26-Crore World-Class Shooting Complex Near Hiranandani Estate to Boost Sports Infrastructure

Maharashtra Approves Modern Shooting Facility With 10m, 25m, and 50m Ranges to Train Future National and International Athletes

The Maharashtra government has given in-principle approval for the construction of a modern multi-purpose shooting complex in Thane at an estimated cost of ₹26 crore. The upcoming sports facility will be developed at Waghbil, near Hiranandani Estate, and is expected to strengthen sports infrastructure while creating better training opportunities for aspiring shooters.

The approval has been granted by the Urban Development Department, led by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The project will come up on a designated plot in the Ovla-Majiwada Assembly constituency, reinforcing the state's focus on promoting competitive sports.

Modern Sports Facility Planned for Young Athletes

Announcing the project, Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik said that Thane's rapid development should be matched with high-quality sports infrastructure. He noted that providing world-class training facilities will help local youth develop their skills and compete at national as well as international levels.

The proposed shooting complex is designed to become a major training center for professional and aspiring shooters, offering advanced practice facilities under one roof.

Project to Include International-Standard Shooting Ranges

The shooting complex will be built on a 2,020.48-square-meter plot with a total built-up area of 4,522.05 square meters. The multi-story building has been planned to meet modern sports standards while offering comfortable facilities for athletes, coaches, and visitors.

The basement will provide parking space for 30 cars and 50 two-wheelers. The ground floor will include an administrative office, a training hall, an armory distribution office, and a cafeteria for athletes and visitors.

The building will feature specialized shooting ranges across different floors to support multiple competition formats.

First Floor

• 10-meter shooting range with 11 lanes
• 65-seat spectator gallery
• Player lounge
• Conference hall

Second Floor

• 25-meter shooting range with 10 lanes
• 55-seat spectator gallery
• Control room
• Equipment storage area

Third Floor

• 50-meter shooting range with 8 lanes
• Seating for 40 spectators
• Additional specialized facilities for athletes and officials

A Step Toward Making Thane a Sports Destination

The new shooting complex is expected to play an important role in identifying and developing shooting talent from Thane and nearby regions. By offering modern infrastructure that meets competitive standards, the facility aims to prepare athletes for state, national, and international championships.
