MMRDA Launches 24×7 Safety Centre to Strengthen Infrastructure Project Response Across Mumbai Region
New 24×7 Control Room Offers Single Point for Safety Issues and Public Complaints
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has launched a 24×7 Safety & Response Co-ordination Centre (SRCC) to improve safety monitoring, emergency response and complaint management across its infrastructure projects in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
The new center provides a centralized system where citizens can report project-related emergencies, safety risks and public concerns. The initiative is aimed at making responses faster and improving coordination among project teams, contractors and other agencies.
Toll-Free Number Available Around the Clock
Citizens can contact the SRCC at the toll-free number 1800-22-8801 to report concerns linked to ongoing MMRDA infrastructure works.
Complaints can cover a range of issues, including construction-site safety, inadequate barricading, traffic management near project sites, road damage caused by construction activities, dust and other public inconveniences.
Once a complaint is received, the SRCC will register and assess it according to its nature and urgency. The concern will then be sent to the relevant project or engineering team for inspection and necessary action.
Urgent Safety Issues to Receive Priority
Issues that require immediate safety measures will be given priority and escalated to the appropriate officials. The SRCC will work with project officers, engineers, contractors, consultants and other concerned agencies to support a quick response.
The system will also monitor complaints after they are forwarded to the relevant team. MMRDA said the SRCC will continue tracking the response and corrective measures until the reported issue is properly addressed and closed.
SRCC Dashboard to Improve Project Monitoring
Along with the 24×7 control room, MMRDA has introduced a dedicated SRCC Dashboard to give senior officials a consolidated view of complaints and safety-related concerns across its projects.
The dashboard will provide information on the type and status of complaints, recurring issues and trends linked to individual projects, contractors and General Consultants.
This centralized monitoring system can help officials identify repeated concerns, monitor response delays and improve accountability. It will also support timely directions for corrective and preventive measures.
MMRDA Focuses on Faster Response and Stronger Safety
MMRDA Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee said the growing scale of infrastructure development across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region requires an equally strong and coordinated response system.
He said the SRCC establishes a clear process from reporting and verification to action and closure. The daily review and centralized dashboard are also expected to provide officials with a wider view of safety concerns across different projects.
The initiative is designed to strengthen coordination, improve response times and use reported concerns to support continuous safety improvements across MMRDA's infrastructure projects.
