Devotees Across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai to Join Guru Purnima Celebrations With Worship, Spiritual Talks and Service Activities
Guru Purnima 2026 will be celebrated across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai on Wednesday, July 29, with several spiritual organizations hosting special events to honor the timeless Guru-disciple tradition. Thousands of devotees are expected to participate in religious ceremonies, spiritual discourses, devotional music, meditation, and community service programs throughout the day.
The annual festival, observed on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Ashadha, is dedicated to expressing gratitude and respect to Gurus who guide people through wisdom, knowledge, and spiritual teachings.
Guru Purnima Celebrates the Sacred Bond Between Guru and Disciple
Guru Purnima is one of the most important spiritual festivals in Hindu tradition. It recognizes the role of a Guru as a guide who helps individuals grow through knowledge, values, and self-realization. On this day, followers offer prayers, seek blessings, and reflect on the teachings that shape their spiritual journey.
Many organizations across Mumbai have planned public events to encourage spiritual learning, devotion, and community participation.
Sanatan Sanstha to Organize Guru Purnima Programs at Four Locations
Sanatan Sanstha will celebrate Guru Purnima Mahotsav at four venues across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, beginning at 6:00 PM.
A special lecture titled "Ramrajya: The Struggle and Direction for the Establishment of a Hindu Rashtra!" will be delivered in Hindi at the Dadar Matunga Cultural Centre, Matunga. Marathi sessions will be held at Prabodhankar Thackeray Krida Sankul in Vile Parle, Harmony Banquet Hall in Bhandup, and Late Annasaheb Patil Memorial Hall in Koparkhairane, Navi Mumbai.
The organization has invited devotees and members of the public to attend the spiritual discourse and take part in the celebrations.
Sri Sathya Sai Organizations Plan Full-Day Celebrations in Andheri
The Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations and Sri Sathya Sai Trust will observe Guru Purnima at Dharmakshetra, Andheri East, with a full-day spiritual schedule.
The celebrations will begin with Abhisekam and Aarti at 9:15 AM, followed by Narayanseva from 10:30 AM onward. Open Darshan at Satyadeep will be available from 4:00 PM to 5:45 PM, while Vedam recitation will take place between 5:15 PM and 5:45 PM.
The day's events will conclude with devotional bhajans and Aarti from 6:00 PM to 7:15 PM, bringing devotees together for prayer and spiritual reflection.
Sadhguru Followers to Perform Traditional Guru Worship Rituals
Followers of Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev will mark Guru Purnima by performing Guru Pada Pooja and Guru Pooja, two traditional rituals rooted in the yogic tradition.
Guru Pada Pooja, conducted by a brahmachari, symbolizes reverence for the Guru's feet and represents humility, gratitude, and spiritual openness. This will be followed by Guru Pooja, a traditional Shodashopachara ritual that includes sixteen sacred offerings and devotional chants.
During the ceremony, a ceremonial lamp representing enlightened masters from different traditions and cultures will be worshipped, highlighting the universal respect for spiritual teachers.
