49 MSME MoUs to Bring ₹2,320 Crore Investment to Chakan-Bhosari, Says CM Fadnavis

Maharashtra is set to receive a proposed investment of ₹2,320.97 crore through 49 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed with Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the investment will give fresh momentum to the Chakan-Bhosari industrial belt in Pune and create new employment opportunities.

Chakan-Bhosari Set for Fresh Industrial Investment

Speaking at an event at Sahyadri Guest House, Fadnavis said the new investments are expected to expand production capacity and strengthen Pune’s industrial ecosystem. The Chakan-Bhosari region is a major center for automobile, engineering and manufacturing businesses, making the proposed projects important for the wider industrial economy.

The government expects several companies that have signed the MoUs to start production within the next one to two years. Once operational, these units are expected to generate jobs, support local businesses and strengthen supply chains across the region.

MSMEs Remain Key to Maharashtra’s Industrial Growth

Fadnavis highlighted the important role of MSMEs in Maharashtra’s economy. He said small and medium businesses are closely connected with large manufacturing companies, particularly in Pune’s automobile and engineering sectors.

These businesses supply components, spare parts, services and other essential products to larger industries. Their growth can also help reduce dependence on imported goods and support Maharashtra’s broader goal of taking locally produced products to global markets.

Government Plans MSME Census

The state government is also planning an MSME Census to create a clearer picture of the sector across Maharashtra. The exercise will collect information about the number of MSME units, their business activities, workforce, production capacity and specific needs.

According to the government, this information will help authorities develop better policies and provide infrastructure and other support based on the actual requirements of businesses.

MIDC to Support New Industrial Projects

The Industries Department and the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) will work with the companies that have signed the MoUs. Support will focus on land, infrastructure and other facilities needed to establish and operate the proposed units.

The government expects the projects to deliver benefits through direct job creation, business expansion and stronger connections between local manufacturers and larger industrial companies.

Maharashtra Strengthens Its Investment Environment

Fadnavis said Maharashtra continues to remain a leading state for foreign direct investment, manufacturing, industry and startups. He assured entrepreneurs that the government would continue working to improve infrastructure and maintain policies that encourage new investments.

The latest MSME MoUs are expected to further strengthen Maharashtra’s position as a preferred destination for manufacturing and industrial activity.

Industrial Estates to Get a Modern Makeover

The Chief Minister also emphasized the need to upgrade industrial estates that were developed several decades ago. Many of these estates now require better infrastructure, maintenance and administrative support to meet the needs of modern businesses.

The state plans to introduce the ‘Industrial Nagar’ concept, beginning in Pune district. Under the plan, industrial estates would receive dedicated administrative arrangements along with improvements in infrastructure, cleanliness and overall maintenance.

Modernizing these industrial areas is expected to make them more attractive to new investors while helping existing businesses expand.
