MHADA Vice President and CEO IAS Sanjeev Jaiswal conducted a detailed review of two major redevelopment and housing projects in Mumbai, including the Siddharth Nagar–Goregaon Housing Project and the large-scale Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (SVP) Nagar cluster redevelopment project in Andheri West.
The inspection comes as MHADA continues accelerating some of Mumbai’s biggest affordable housing and cluster redevelopment projects under its Construction and Development Agency (C&DA) model.
MHADA Expanding Large-Scale Redevelopment Across 925 Acres In Mumbai
Mumbai’s housing transformation is witnessing major momentum with MHADA currently implementing 11 large redevelopment projects spread across nearly 925 acres in the city.
Among them, the SVP Nagar cluster redevelopment project in Andheri West is considered one of the most significant redevelopment initiatives aimed at providing modern, safe and affordable housing to thousands of Mumbai residents.
During the inspection, IAS Sanjeev Jaiswal personally interacted with residents inside the colony and reviewed on-ground redevelopment progress.
He expressed confidence that the redevelopment would completely transform the locality and significantly improve the quality of life for residents through better infrastructure, planned housing and modern urban facilities.
Strong Developer Response For SVP Nagar Redevelopment
The SVP Nagar redevelopment project, spread across approximately 73.89 acres in Andheri West, is being implemented by MHADA’s Mumbai Board under the C&DA redevelopment model.
Technical bids for appointing a Construction and Development Agency for the project have already been opened and have received strong participation from several reputed real estate developers across the country.
Officials believe the redevelopment will become one of Mumbai’s most important cluster transformation projects over the coming years.
Nearly 3,700 Affordable Homes Taking Shape At Goregaon Project
Following the Andheri inspection, IAS Sanjeev Jaiswal visited the Siddharth Nagar Housing Project in Goregaon West and reviewed the status of multiple residential projects being developed across different plots.
Officials stated that nearly 3,700 apartments are currently being developed under the Siddharth Nagar–Goregaon Housing Project, creating a major affordable housing opportunity in one of Mumbai’s key suburban locations.
The large-scale project includes homes across Lower Income Group (LIG), Middle Income Group (MIG) and Higher Income Group (HIG) categories.
Multiple Housing Projects Progressing Across Different Plots
Construction of 507 apartments for LIG and MIG families is currently underway on Plot R-1.
On Plot R-3, MHADA is developing 391 apartments for lower and middle-income groups. Officials stated that the B, C and D wings of this project were completed earlier and 306 apartments had already been allotted through a previous MHADA lottery.
The A wing of the same project is now nearing completion and includes 85 LIG apartments that are proposed to be included in MHADA’s 2026 lottery scheme.
On Plot R-4, construction of 915 apartments along with 20 shops is currently in progress, while another 576 apartments are being developed on Plot R-7/A-2.
Additionally, MHADA has proposed 1,181 apartments on Plot R-7/A-1 and another 237 apartments across LIG, MIG and HIG categories on Plot R-12A.
Construction of 250 HIG apartments is also progressing on Plot R-13.
Major Push For Affordable Housing In Goregaon
Officials stated that the Siddharth Nagar–Goregaon project is expected to create a large inventory of affordable homes in a prime Mumbai location, offering significant relief to middle-class and lower-income families looking for housing opportunities within the city.
During the review, IAS Sanjeev Jaiswal directed officials to maintain construction quality standards and ensure timely completion of the projects so that beneficiaries can receive modern and well-planned homes at the earliest.
