MHADA Masterlist Housing Applications Open September 1: Eligible Applicants Can Apply Until September 20

Online Application Window Opens for Eligible Masterlist Beneficiaries

Mumbai, August 26, 2026: Eligible original tenants, occupants and legal heirs listed under the Masterlist will soon have an opportunity to apply online for allotment of reconstructed residential units in Mumbai.

The Mumbai Building Repairs and Reconstruction Board (MBRRB), a division of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), will start accepting online applications on September 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Applicants can complete the process until 11:59 PM on September 20, 2026.

Applications can be submitted through the official MHADA Masterlist portal.

The announcement comes after the recent success of the Mumbai MHADA lottery, which helped many families move closer to their dream of owning a home. Under the leadership of Sanjeev Jaiswal, MHADA continues to focus on transparent housing processes and improved access for eligible residents.

Who Can Apply Under the MHADA Masterlist Scheme?

The application process is aimed at original tenants and occupants of cess buildings who received vacation notices from the Mumbai Building Repairs and Reconstruction Board. It also covers eligible legal heirs.

The process applies to cases where buildings were vacated but could not be redeveloped because of issues such as narrow plots, land reservations, road widening requirements or other development restrictions.

The scheme also includes eligible original tenants or occupants of reconstructed cess buildings who have not received permanent housing because the number of residential units available in the redeveloped building was not enough to accommodate all eligible residents.

Such applicants must be staying in transit accommodation to qualify under the applicable provisions.

How to Submit the MHADA Masterlist Application Online

Applicants can visit the MHADA website and open the Citizen Corner section. From there, they should select “Application for Masterlist.”

Applicants can also register directly through the official Masterlist portal.

After registration, they need to log in using their registered email address and password. MHADA has advised applicants to keep these login details secure because they will be required for future access.

Once logged in, applicants can review the instructions and user manual before completing the application. They must enter all required information, upload the necessary documents and submit the form online.

Documents Must Be Submitted to MHADA Within 30 Days

After completing the online application, applicants must submit self-certified copies of the documents uploaded with their application to MHADA headquarters within 30 days.

Applicants must also keep the original documents and relevant records ready. These may be required during the hearing process for verification.

Documents Required for MHADA Masterlist Application

Applicants should have an active mobile number and email address before starting the registration process. The required documents include:

• Recent color photograph in JPEG format
• Photograph of signature or thumb impression in JPEG format
• Aadhaar Card in PDF format
• Building vacation notice
• Rent receipt for the old building
• Electricity bill
• Transit accommodation allotment order
• Transit accommodation possession receipt
• Transfer Agreement
• Other relevant supporting documents

Applicants are advised to check their documents carefully before uploading them to avoid delays during the verification process.

MHADA Eligibility and Housing Allotment Rules

MHADA said eligibility and allotment of reconstructed or redeveloped residential units will be determined according to the MHADA Act, 1976, the Regulations of 1981, and the latest government and MHADA policies and provisions.

The final decision will therefore depend on the applicant's eligibility and the applicable rules governing the Masterlist process.

Previous Applicants May Not Need to Apply Again

MHADA has also issued an important clarification for people who have already been through the Masterlist process.

Applicants who have already been declared eligible by the Masterlist Committee do not need to submit a new application. Those who have already submitted an online application also do not need to apply again.

However, applicants who previously submitted their applications offline and whose cases are still pending will have to submit a fresh online application during the new application window.
