Motilal Nagar, located in Goregaon, was originally established in the 1960s as a housing settlement for workers. Over the years, the structures became outdated, lacking modern amenities and adequate living conditions. Recognizing the urgent need for renewal, MHADA initiated the redevelopment process in 2020, paving the way for a large-scale transformation.

• Partnering with the Adani Group, the redevelopment aims to transform Motilal Nagar into a modern residential hub.

Abhyudaya Nagar Redevelopment

History & Redevelopment Timeline

Situated in Kalachowki, Abhyudaya Nagar was originally developed to house mill workers and middle-class families. However, as decades passed, the area saw increasing congestion and deteriorating infrastructure. In 2018, MHADA took the initiative to launch a redevelopment plan, aiming to create a sustainable and inclusive housing project.

• The focus is on upgrading outdated, unsafe structures into modern residential complexes.
• Plans include enhanced roads, green spaces, and essential public services.

Sindhi Colony Redevelopment

History & Redevelopment Timeline

Located in Sion-Koliwada, Sindhi Colony has been home to generations of residents. Originally developed post-partition, the settlement provided housing to Sindhi refugees. Over time, aging structures and poor infrastructure led to safety concerns. In 2021, the Maharashtra government approved a Rs. 3,000 crore redevelopment projects to revamp the area.

However, with deteriorating infrastructure and overcrowding, MHADA launched a massive redevelopment plan in 2017 to transform these historic communities.

  • Worli (Redevelopment began in 2018)

  • N.M. Joshi Marg (Redevelopment project approved in 2020)
    • Emphasizing sustainability, with green building initiatives and energy-efficient homes.
    • Eco-friendly materials, rainwater harvesting, and solar energy integration for a greener future.
• Partnering with Tata Projects and private developers, MHADA is ensuring a seamless transition to modern housing.
